Dupattas that adds glamour to the look

These days, when it comes to office wears and regular outings women mostly swear by kurti and leggings or kurti and jeans as a comfortable dress and ditch the dupatta. But when it comes to glam up and make it a gorgeous ethnic wear then carrying a dupatta is a must.

 Chanderi

Ikat

Ikats are unique and the dupattas have peppy colours which can add some instant glamour to a simple outfit. Ikat actually refers to a kind of dyeing technique where the bundles of yarns are wrapped and then dyed together to create some unique designs on the fabric. It is a dyeing process which is different because it takes place before the cloth is woven.

Banarasi silk

This is a must in every woman’s wardrobe because they are gorgeous. Made of rich silk fabric it can give a glamorous and ethnic look to any simple salwar suit.

Gota patti

If one wants to wear something ethnic is a wedding function which is not a saree then they can always go for a salwar suit and pair them up with a gota patti dupatta. It is a type of embroidery which has its origin in Rajasthan. It is made by using appliqué techniques where intricate patterns are created with silver and gold ribbon.

 Kalamkari

One can add some quirky edge to their looks by wearing a kalamkari dupatta. Kalamkari literally means drawing with pen. They have to go through several steps of dyeing, bleaching, block printing, hand printing and starch to make the final fabric.

Madhubani

It is a type of art which is done by using natural dyes and elements like nib pens, twigs, matchsticks and others. They are mostly practiced in Mithila and Nepal. One can stand out wearing this because of its eye catching patterns.
