Allah (SWT) revealed the Quran to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over a period of 23 years. He did not make any other equal in majesty and nobility before or after him. In fact, Allah (SWT) says in the Quran,

“Indeed, We have sent down the Quran to you in stages. So recite it to them gradually and unveil its [Quran’s] treasures that they may reflect.” – Quran 16:24

This revelation was completed in the year 632 AD, after which Muhammad ﷺ passed away without leaving a successor. This is why the Quran is the most important element of Islam.
